It's often called a "glitch buster" or stabilization capacitor.

Main functions of the capacitor on an RC receiver

  • Avoid temporary voltage dips
  • When a servo or motor draws a lot of current at once, the voltage may drop briefly. This can cause the receiver to restart, resulting in signal loss or erratic behavior.
  • Stabilizing the power supply
  • The capacitor acts as an energy reserve that rapidly discharges to compensate for fluctuations, ensuring a constant power supply to the receiver.
  • Reduce radio interference and glitching
  • Hence the name "glitch buster": it helps avoid micro-cuts, often caused by electrical interference generated by motors, servos or drives.
